The big striker is carrying a hamstring injury but managed to make it through for a club experiencing plenty of injury woes.

“I did it three weeks ago against OVA,” the striker said.

“I should be resting it but we’ve got a fair few out. 

“We’ve got a couple of weeks off now .”

Barrow entered Saturday’s clash with the situation of “seeing how it went” but was able to get through as well as be a target for his midfielders with some high balls.

“We had a few chances,” he said.

“We just couldn’t find that goal. The ball just wasn’t flowing.”

He believes the side will be a threat with a full squad and hopes to be back fully fit after the June long weekend.

Tamworth FC coach Daryl Smith was happy with the way his injury-hit side performed while also having some kind words about the young North Companions.

“They are a good side. Gavin has done well with them,” he said of coach Gavin Thompson.

“They are young and fit.”

“We just need to get a few players back from injury.”

One of those is Englishman Ross Price although his goalkeeping spot was well preserved by Rob Chase.

“He kept brilliantly,” Smith said.

“Steve Marshall had a big game and Jun Sayabath was very lively.

“That was his first game for two or three years.”

Thompson thought Matt Clarke and Will Howard were outstanding in defence while Jake Thompson and Will Kam also created plenty in midfield.

Steve Beaton was another to impress, the club stalwart  particularly strong in the final 20 minutes with some telling tackles and interceptions.

North Companions are now preparing for a top of the table clash with unbeaten OVA this Saturday.
