A 12-YEAR-OLD boy was flown to Westmead Children’s Hospital after the utility he was in crashed into a tree 60km east of Armidale on the Armidale-Kempsey Rd on Saturday night. The boy suffered suspected spinal injuries when he and another young boy in the back of a utility were injured by timber in the back of the ute that came through the back window. One boy was flown to Tamworth airport to meet up with the air ambulance and was flown to Sydney. The Lismore Westpac helicopter also attended the scene, but details on the other patients are unknown.
Fire extinguished
A UNIT in Gunnedah was saved by vigilant neighbours after a fire broke out just after 9am on Saturday. An occupant of a neighbouring unit heard a bang at the Newell St residence and, after investigation, saw smoke coming from the front of the unit. The fire was extinguished with garden hoses, with extensive smoke damage to the premises. Police said the fire was not considered suspicious.
Drink drivers
DRINK drivers kept police busy at the weekend with a Toronto man charged with high-range PCA yesterdayat Quirindi. The 31-year-old was stopped at about 1.20am on Fitzroy St and returned a reading of 0.180. He was found to be in beach of bail and made threats against police. He was charged with intimidating police, driving with high range PCA and breaching bail. He faced court yesterday and was given bail. Also early yesterday morning, a 30-year-old man was charged with mid-range PCA at Inverell. He was stopped at 1.05am, had his licence suspended and will appear in court at a later date. At 10.10pm on Friday, a 37-year-old Graman woman was charged with mid-range PCA after having a reading of 0.094 in Borthwick St, Inverell, had her licence suspended and will also face court at a later date.
Inverell incidents
TWO men were fined $500 in Inverell at the weekend in separate incidents. The first man was seen wearing no shirt, swearing and threatening people, including an elderly couple, at about 12.10am on Saturday. The 27-year-old from Tingha ran at those he was abusing and had to be controlled using capsicum spray and was arrested. He was charged with offensive conduct and fined before being released. The second man, a
24-year-old man was fined $500 yesterday when police found him urinating on a shopfront in Byron St, Inverell.
27yo charged
A MAN was arrested and charged after he was involved in a domestic incident with his relatives while visiting Inverell at about 10am on
Saturday. The 27-year-old was charged with a number of offences and was granted conditional bail and released to face Inverell Local Court at a later date.
Parole revoked
A 43-YEAR-OLD Inverell man was arrested on Friday after his parole was revoked for time not served. He will be transferred into the custody of NSW Corrective Services.
Burnout bust
TAMWORTH police issued a 19-year-old male an infringement notice about 11pm on Saturday after he was seen doing a burnout on the corner of Peel and Brisbane streets.
Trespassers
INVERELL police have called on the public for information about trespassers on a property on Waterloo Rd, Woodstock on Saturday morning.
