Country rugby league was at it's best on Saturday in Dungowan as Kootingal made the short trip for a grand final re-match that was always going to have plenty of feeling and the big crowd wasn't let down. Cowboys winger Dylan O'Brien scored first in both halves, although the premiers found themselves behind late in the game after Kooty fought back and started completing sets. Hard tackling centre Mitch Brown crossed for the Cowboys on the left side from a Matt Wilson and Clint Ridley set up to win the match 14-10. Kooty, Dungowan and Werris Creek are all on 12 points and have all beaten each other, Kooty beat Creek, Creek beat Dungowan, Dungowan beat Kooty. Boggabri are in fourth but only two points off the lead after accounting for Walcha at home. Barraba turned it on to score several late tries in an exciting come from behind victory at Bendemeer, while Uralla beat Quirindi and Manilla remain winless after Creek smashed them.
