Des Hardman, a radiographer at Logan Hospital, will contest the Logan-based electorate for the Labor Party at the next federal election, due in 2016.

Mr Hardman had been preselected for Forde in 2013 until a captain's call by then-prime minister Kevin Rudd saw Mr Beattie replace him on the ballot paper, just weeks out from the election.

Incumbent Liberal National Part member Bert van Manen​ ultimately defeated Mr Beattie, with a two-party preferred swing of 2.8 per cent towards the Liberal National Party candidate.

Mr Hardman told Fairfax Media on Thursday his unceremonial dumping was "ancient history" and he had put that personal blow behind him.

"I just went through the same process as anyone else would in a situation like that," he said.

"Ultimately, I just had to put it aside and not take it personally and also look towards the positives.

"I really enjoyed the time and the work that I did and, ultimately, what motivates me is the fact that I want to win Forde back for Labor and, if we can do that, then I believe we can have a Labor government.

"That motivates me. That brings me back."

Mr Hardman, who was Labor's endorsed 2013 candidate for about 12 months, said he had "never really stopped campaigning" in Forde.

"I'm just as determined as what I was previously to have a run," he said.

"I never lost sight of that goal of having the opportunity to represent the people of Forde."

Mr Hardman was one of 11 federal Labor candidates announced on Wednesday night.

In addition to sitting Labor MPs Shayne Neumann (Blair), Terri Butler (Griffith), Wayne Swan (Lilley), Graham Perrett (Moreton) and Jim Chalmers (Rankin), the Labor Party also confirmed Brisbane City Council opposition leader Milton Dick would run in Bernie Rippoll's seat of Oxley.

Cr Dick had been expected to get the Labor preselection in Oxley even before Mr Rippoll announced his retirement.

Lawyer Laura Fraser Hardy will once again try to gain Bonner from the LNP's Ross Vasta, after her 2013 attempt was unsuccessful, while 2013 Wide Bay candidate Lucy Stanton will once again try to unseat Deputy Prime Minister Warren Truss.

IT consultant Scott Anderson will run against Palmer United Party leader Clive Palmer in Fairfax, with the LNP's candidate will be decided from a six-person field on Saturday.

Labor state secretary Evan Moorhead said the party had put up a strong team, some with "decades of hard battle in the federal arena", to contest the south-east Queensland seats.

"And with our new candidates, we have people from all walks of life," he said.

"…These are candidates in touch with their communities, who are listening to the concerns of locals and feeling the effects of (Prime Minister) Tony Abbott's cruel cuts every single day."

The LNP's nominees for Fairfax were former candidate Ted O'Brien, construction manager Peter Duffy, banking manager Donald Jamieson, lawyer Chloe Kopilovic, lecturer and engineer  Adrian McCallum and accountant Mark Somlyay.

An LNP spokesman said the selection process for its non-held seats would be progressively rolled out, starting with Fairfax this weekend.
