Police are using a raft of resources as they search for Bob Baihn, 72, in dense Hunter bushland on Tuesday morning.
Mr Baihn, was last seen about 5.15pm on Sunday when he was searching for a missing pony at a Flaggs Road property at Gungal, near Sandy Hollow.
When he failed to return to the farm house that evening, his wife and a neighbour began an unsuccessful search for Mr Baihn before contacting police.
Hunter Valley police, the dog squad, trail bikes, the State Emergency Service and Police Rescue have raked the area around the farm over land while an aerial search has also been undertaken.
Rough terrain forced searched to suspend overnight on Monday, but efforts were resumed on Tuesday morning.
Grave concerns are held for Mr Baihn due to a medical condition that requires regular medication.
