HUNDREDS of keen bowlers have converged on Tamworth.
Many more will stream into the city today.
After 12 months of hard yakka the local organisers of the NSW Bowls Interzone Sides Champion- ship are excited the big weekend has finally arrived.
Elite bowlers aged from 19 upwards will take to the greens between now and Sunday to battle it out for the biggest prize in NSW lawn bowls.
Event organiser Kevin Clifton said he and the other event organisers were confident all of their hard work would pay dividends.
“We know the teams will bring their A-games,” he said.
“Some of these team skippers are very young, but they already have significant experience under their belts, and there is no doubting the talent.”
Players are sure to stand out too – wearing coloured bowls uniforms and bowling with coloured bowls.
The championship returns to Tamworth this year after a 16-year hiatus.
Mr Clifton said he would encourage those with an interest to come along and view the action.
“We hope Tamworth locals get out to one of the clubs and support Zone 3 in Tamworth over the weekend,” he said.
Finals for the comp will take place on Sunday at the South Tamworth Bowling Club which will also double as the headquarters for the event.
