While they beat Tamworth Swans at No 1 Oval in the first game of the season, the Bulldogs face a far different Tamworth opponent today in the shape of the unbeaten Roos.
The Roos are coming off a last-round bye though and might be a little scratchy for coach Tony Bishop, who is moulding a premiership threat.
The Bulldogs have started well under their triumvirate of coaches – John Woolaston, Andrew George and Ryan Cooper – and coming off a 56-point win over new chums, Moree Suns.
Ryan Cooper booted five goals for the Bulldogs last week and the cricket allrounder will be one of the key men with talented Andrew George today.
The Roos have a number of players in good form, with stalwart Daniel Johnson leading the way.
Last Saturday, Narrabri Eagles claimed their first win of the season for captain-coach Todd Dunn.
He has a number of new players , and new to the game, to fit into his side and it will be an evolving process.
He and the Eagles swoop on the Moree Suns at Taylor Oval, Moree today to tackle Nicholas O’Sullivan and his young side.
Inverell Saints are languishing in fifth spot on the seven-team competition after just one win under new captain-coach Haydon Chapple.
The Saints host Andrew Donohue and his Tamworth Swans at Varley Oval today, with Chapple, who has been one of their best, spearheading their effort to return to the top of the ladder.
The Saints are coming off a 54-point loss to the Eagles in Narrabri last week where the Eagles flew home, converting a narrow three-quarter time lead into a final-term rout.
Big Todd Fagan booted seven goals and Michael Miskle and Todd Dunn’s inspiration from the middle sparked the Eagle onslaught.
Reigning champions New England Nomads have the bye today.
