South America is fast becoming one of the world's cruising hot spots. It's particularly popular with Australians. According to the most recent industry statistics, the number of Aussies cruising South American waters in 2013 rose 75 per cent. The vast continent comprises 14 countries and territories, and cruises usually visit distinct regions, such as the Galapagos Islands in Ecuador or the Amazon River, or go around the Horn.
