While the likes of Corey Manicaros and Dan Boland have been starring for the Bears’ first grade side, another teenager, Tobias Bramley, stole the show at Narrabri’s Collins Park last Sunday.
The 16-year-old played not only Under 18s but reserve and first grade in a massive day.
First grade coach Zac Russ was hugely impressed.
“It was an amazing effort,” Russ said after the game.
“He plays, wing, second row, a little bit of everywhere.
“He’s only thin but played well and helped us out.
“We only had 14 fresh players at Narrabri so it was a good effortby everyone.”
He was also impressed by the continued improvement of flashing young Dan Boland.
“He is getting better and better each game,” he said.
Tomorrow the Bears come up against a Bulldogs side also bristling with a new look under coaches Trent Hilton and Wayne Griffiths.
Second-rower Danny Read has added size and ball-playing ability since arriving from out west.
Trent Hilton and Aaron Donnelly, the two Greater Northern Tiger representatives in the Bulldogs side, will be the spearheads in close and out wide.
In the other match, Narrabri host Oxley Diggers in a Sunday game at Collins Park.
The Blues are coming off last weekend’s 44-18 loss to the Bears while the Diggers had the bye.
