Crime statistics released today indicate the New England North West area has seen an increase in break and enter, stealing from motor vehicle and fraud offences since 2011.
The latest data from the state’s independent crime reporting body, BOCSAR, shows that state-wide 15 of the 17 major categories of crime are remaining stable or falling.
While for the New England North West break and enter offences in dwellings have increased, break and enters into businesses have dropped.
The NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research shows there are particularly significant reductions in these major categories:
Non-domestic violence related assaults are down by 8.2 per cent.
This refers to the assaults that happen outside the pub, or on the footpath or any other public place.
A reduction in assaults at licensed premises has continued its downward trend down 9.3 per cent.
Hotels /pubs down 8.4 per cent and clubs down 14.8 per cent.
The incidents of assault with glass/bottle down for NSW by 20.9 per cent.
A downward trend in malicious damage to property, which is down by 5.6 per cent.
The report also notes some increase in two categories over the past 24 months for NSW.
Steal from motor vehicle up 5.4 per cent and fraud up 5.2 per cent.
The report shows the number of drive by shooting incidents remains stable.
