It followed a 5-4 loss to Olympians in their Saturday night game brought forward from this weekend.
“We were up 3-nil at half-time,” Services captain-coach Kimmy McLean said.
“We were just a bit too quick and bit stronger in the end.”
She said it was good hockey.
They were helped by Olympians only having nine to start.
The intensity picked up once they got to 10.
“It was a very fast game,” McLean said.
They had to do a lot of running and played well, she thought.
They created enough opportunities to win it, or draw as it looked like heading into the final few minutes.
But they couldn’t quite hold on, Olympians sealing the win with three minutes to go.
On Sunday they started off well, McLean said, putting away four goals in the first half.
But the intensity dropped off a bit in the second half.
She put that in part down to being a bit weary from the night before.
The passing was still there and they had a lot of opportunities again, but the finesse wasn’t quite there.
She and Gabbi D’Ambros both scored twice, with Lori Edgar and Sarah Dicker adding the extras.
Dicker and D’Ambros were among their best on Sunday, along with Michelle Aslin.
On Saturday night Kate Perrett did a lot of running, McLean said.
Injuries really hurt Tudors.
They had four second graders backing up – Vicki Miller, Janelle Edgar, Kylie Maizey and Kerry Worrad – but were limited in the players they could call on after picking up a couple of injuries in second grade.
“We then suffered a couple of injuries in the first half of first grade, reducing us to nine for the second half,” Tudors’ Helen Willis said.
She said Services scored a couple of good goals in the first half.
“Our plan at half time was to consolidate our defence and reduce the score as much as possible considering our injuries,” she said.
“As a team we were pretty happy as we kept Services scoreless in the second half until the last five minutes when they put two goals away.”
She said Sarah Askey was solid in the middle and it was great to see her back after being away on U15 State representative duties.
“Mel Morgan has really flourished in first grade this season and had another solid match at right half,” Willis said.
“Natalie Willis was also good at left midfield and worked hard all game.
“And Em Jarrett made some great saves in goals,” he said.
