Such is the excitement around Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao's fight, the Melbourne Cricket Club has bought the right to show it at the MCG.
As the two men slug it out in Las Vegas, members can watch it on screens and it will be shown at some bars around the ground just before or during the match between Melbourne and Fremantle.
Etihad Stadium is also inviting sport fans to watch the fight before the Essendon and St Kilda clash at 3.20pm.
More than 1000 Australian businesses had bought subscriptions to screen the fight, 150 of them in Victoria, a Fox Sports spokeswoman said.
More Australian venues had paid to screen the match than any other international fight, she said, but it would not surpass the popularity of the fight between Australians Anthony Mundine and Danny Green in 2006.
Pacquiao is wildly popular among his countrymen, and Norma Serrano of the Filipino Community Council of Victoria said anticipation was building in the lead-up to the bout.
She said many Melburnians of Filipino descent had organised gatherings in their homes, with family and friends pitching in to meet the cost of watching the fight on pay TV. They would share food and prayers, Ms Serrano said.
Pacquiao has appeared in films and is an elected member of the Philippine House of Representatives.
"He's very humble, highly spiritual and he's happy for everyone," she said.
The start time for the clash will depend on the run time of preceding fights, but estimates are for first punches to be thrown about 2pm AEST.
It is available on a pay-per-view basis only, on Main Event, and costs nearly $60.
The broadcast will begin at 11am and most pubs and bars screening the fight will open their doors then.
Fairfax's boxing aficionado Phil Lutton will be blogging the fight, live from 1pm on this website.
Here is a list of some of the city venues that will be screening the fight.
