The annual Tamworth representative carnival drew teams from Gunnedah, Inverell, Glen Innes, Taree and Coonabarabran as they prepare for the State Age and State Championships.
The State Championships will be the first up.
They’ll be held on the June long weekend (June 6-8).
The State Age Championships will follow later in the month – from June 27-29.
For the Tamworth 14s it was an encouraging day.
“From our six games we had four wins and two draws,” coach Janet Jamieson said.
Their two draws came against Gunnedah and Glen Innes.
They later turned around to beat Glen Innes by two goals.
“I was really pleased with the way we played,” Jamieson said.
She said the side improved over the day and has improved a lot since last year.
Last year at the Tamworth carnival, Gunnedah beat them by six goals.
Next on their agenda is the Singleton carnival this weekend.
