That Anzac weekend cold snap saw a minus one recorded at Glen Innes early Monday morning and a fair few lows as close as you can go before hitting zero in other places.
But if you threw another quilt on the bed last night, then you’re pretty well set for the rest of the week.
The minimums will improve and the top temperatures will rise to the early 20s – but the even better news is, there’s expected to be some more rain heading our way from Wednesday afternoon.
In fact, the Bureau of Meteorology forecast is for the best of the rain, especially around Tamworth, to hit Friday and bring between 8 to 25mm.
While the weekend saw a sunny, great day in most parts for Anzac Day services, there was some rain reported. Woolbrook, Quirindi and Armidale all registered traces of rain.
And while old timers will tell you Anzac Day is more often than not the day we see our first frosts of the season, we haven’t yet, although Glen Innes might have had some white patches Sunday night.
Monday morning’s low of 5.6degrees in Tamworth was the second lowest for the month, but last night was expected to slump to about three degrees.
There were colder places though. Tenterfield had a zero reading Sunday night and Gunnedah got down to 3.6, while it was positively warm further out west where Narrabri dropped to 5.9 and Moree 8.2 degrees.
