Michelle Aslin and Emily Griffiths found the back of the net for Services as they accounted for Waratahs 2-nil.
It was captain-coach Kimmy McLean’s first look at them for a few weeks.
She’s been away touring with the Australian Country side in Singapore and Malaysia.
She thought Sunday was a bit patchy from them.
“I thought the first half was a bit scrappy,” she said.
“Just our basics. The easy passing and easy trapping wasn’t there.”
They spoke about that at half-time and rectified it in the second half.
“The second half was heaps better,” McLean said.
Their play was a lot more fluent.
“We went back to our game,” she said.
“We had the connection from the defenders to the midfield and midfield to strikers.
“We weren’t trying to hit through them.”
The improvement filtered right through their game.
“Once we picked up everything picked up,” McLean said.
She thought they were quite good in the midfield and defence particularly.
Kate Perrett was notably strong at the back while Emily Willis got through a lot of work up front.
Olympians’ strikepower was too much for Tudor Wests to handle in the other match on Sunday.
The premiers got back their scoring groove, slipping 11 past Tudors to take the points 11-nil.
Alice Arnott and Dana Constable were the main perpetrators, with Arnott bagging five and Constable a hat-trick.
The win made for a welcome turnaround after successive one-goal losses.
The groundwork was laid in the first half, with Olympians popping in seven in the first period.
“The build-up still wasn’t as quick and sharp as I’d like,” coach Andrew Farmilo said.
“But we were still pretty clinical when we got it there.”
While they scored more goals in the first half, he thought the second half was better in some respects.
“Team-wise we actually played better in the second half,” he said. “The movement of the ball was better.
“They (Tudors) scrambled better in the second half.”
He did change a few positions around for the game, pushing Em Chaffey to the midfield and dropping Naomi Sparke back to the defence.
The changes worked well, with Sparke solid at the back.
Defence has been their biggest issue the last couple of games.
