The four-year-old daughter of Fubu refused to lie down after race favourite How Will I Know headed her at the 200m and surged to the line for a half length win in 1min 12.29secs.
Well-known rodeo cowboy and horse breaker Adam Newman organised a syndicate of local owners including Kevin Wilson, Ricky Chesterfield and Ty Taggart.
They have now won four races from 14 starts.
Sophie Young rides Tennavous and knows how tenacious Tennavous is.
“She’s tough, keeps trying,” Young said.
“She’s got good gate speed too.
“She can always put herself in a good spot.”
Sue Grills trains Tennavous and reckons the syndicate deserve their success although their spelling might need a bit of polishing.
“They are a great bunch,” Grills said.
“Ten of them but they couldn’t spell the name right.”

“She ran a real good race in this race last year,” Grills said.
“So we planned to come back.”
Tennavous does race well on the fresh side too so she has been keeping her preparations “short and sharp”.
Tennavous had not raced since January when second to Aussie Kim at Armidale.

The Quirindi Jockey Club has a seven-race TAB program scheduled, with the 1450m Willow Tree Cup, a benchmark 60 handicap, the highlight of the meeting.
Nominations for Quirindi close at 11am today.
