The students participated in the World’s Greatest Shave challenge on Wednesday, raising much-needed funds for the Leukaemia Foundation.
And the boys have taken their fundraising very seriously this year, with the current tally at more than $16,000.
Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School teacher David Olrich is particularly close to the event, which began in 2000, when his young son was being treated for the disease, which ultimately claimed his life.
Fifteen years later Mr Olrich said it was gratifying to see the boys still embracing the cause, with 2015 being one of the most successful ever, adding to the tens of thousands of dollars raised by Farrer for the Leukaemia Foundation over the years.
This year’s annual shave fundraiser culminated in a charity screening of the new Avengers movie at Tamworth’s Forum 6 on Thursday night.
And there are a few more barbecues still to come to add to the final tally.
On Wednesday seven hair-dressers from Cody and Co and Allure volunteered their time to shave the students’ heads, a task that took well over an hour.
Today the Farrer boys will participate in another special community event when they honour Australian servicemen and women at Tamworth’s Anzac Day parade.
