The money will be divided between the Tenterfield, Inverell, Liverpool Plains, Armidale Dumaresq and Tamworth Regional council areas, with the most going towards the Mount Lindesay Rd near Tenterfield, long considered one of the most dangerous stretches of road in the region.

A total of $35,000 will be spent on sealing the surface and installing delineation and guideposts from Wylie Creek Rd to 130m south of Overcliffe Road.

Almost $200,000 will go towards Old Bundarra Rd to install signage, curve alignment markers and centreline delineation on a 3km section from Leviathan Rd to Schwenkes Lane; and $173,000 has been allocated to Lowes Creek Rd, between Werris Creek and Quirindi, to realign the road by turning three corners into one.

Armidale will benefit from a new roundabout at the junction of Queen Elizabeth Dr and Elm Ave, and new guardrails will be installed along sections of Daruka Rd.

The funding has been allocated under the federal government’s Black Spot program.
