THE 22-year-old man charged after allegedly crashing into a police paddy wagon at five times the legal limit on Monday will remain in custody until a court appearance next month.
Police said the man “wanted to be locked up again” and this could have been the reason behind his behaviour.
Michael Roy Foster yesterday appeared at Tamworth Local Court and pleaded guilty to charges of maliciously destroying or damaging property and driving with a high range proscribed concentration of alcohol in relation to the matter.
About 1.30pm on Monday, Foster was driving down Fitzroy St when he slammed head-on into a police vehicle parked in front of the Tamworth Police Station. Onlookers said it appeared he aimed for the car.
He then allegedly recorded a blood alcohol level of .273 after police apprehended him at the scene.
Foster was refused bail and will reappear in court on October 22.
