THE first meeting of State Water’s newly formed Namoi-Peel customer service committee will be held at Keepit Dam today.
The new committee was elected at the end of June for the four-year term from 2012-2016 following the end of the previous committee’s term from 2008-2012.
State Water general manager assets Dan Berry said the first meeting would involve introducing members to the business and electing a chairman. “The meeting at Keepit Dam will give the new committee an opportunity to learn about State Water Corporation and more specifically the operation of Keepit and Chaffey dams as well as weirs and regulators.
“There will also be a discussion on important issues such as metering standards, water pricing and water delivery operations.”
State Water has eight customer service committees representing water users in each valley of
operation. “Customer service committees provide a valuable forum for communication and consultation between State Water and water users,” Mr Berry said.
Members include irrigators from the regulated and unregulated streams, groundwater irrigators, irrigation schemes and corporations, stock and domestic water users, local government and industry, including mining and power generation.
