Last night he and his teammates were able to hold the Wombramurra Cup aloft when they received the trophy officially in Ian “Butch” Southwell Cricket House.
It was a good night for Old Boys, who also won the fourth grade premiership.
Old Boys allrounder Aaron Hazlewood won the Fred Allen Memorial Cricketer of the Year award, young allrounder Jack Richards shared the Ron George Junior Cricketer of the Year award with Bective-East’s Lachlan Davidson and Old Boys fourth grader Anthony Bello won the McKellar Medal.
Middlebrook also celebrated some individual success, winning the first grade bowling average with 22 wickets at 8.41 to go with a massive batting effort.
The Old Boys skipper scored 671 runs in first grade to top the list after Kris Halloran had finished top of the run-scoring after the premierships rounds with 496 runs.
Middlebrook also hit the quickest century, 114 off 79 balls and scored another 568 runs in representative cricket to win the Tamworth representative cricketer of the year award.
Some talented up and coming cricketers were also honoured last night with junior encouragement awards.
They were Lachlan Barton (Bective-East), Brody Blackett-Gregg (City United), Harrison Hague (North Tamworth), Lachlan Betts (Old Boys), Kayne Shearman (South Tamworth) and Adam Cruikshank (West Tamworth).
Others to excel last night were North Tamworth’s Adam Greentree who topped the first grade bowling aggregate with 35 wickets and Tim Kensell, who topped the first grade averages with 383 runs at 77.60.
