AS BOOTH captain at the Tamworth High School polling place, I would like to take this opportunity to thank my team of volunteers, working for Kevin Anderson, on election day.

On what was a long and exhausting day in the heat, all of you showed complete commitment to the task of ensuring Kevin was re-elected.
For a mixed span of age groups, the camaraderie was second to none.
I also wish to thank Barnaby Joyce, for not only his handing out how-to-vote brochures but his willingness to engage with voters to discuss their issues.
To the volunteers from Western Australia: a job well done, your state can be proud of you.
The steady stream of voters kept us on our toes, but the continuous flow of helpers ensured that they had their questions answered in a polite and constructive way.
Kevin and his wife Anna arrived at 11am and stayed till the death.
With the opposition close at hand, Kevin was relentless in his approach to introducing himself to the voters as they made their way to make one of their most important decisions for their next four years.
I would also like to thank the young voters, especially those who approached Kevin to shake his hand and give him their approval as their candidate.
Great to see, as you are our future and the trust you have shown in Kevin can only make that future brighter.
To all those who cast their vote at Tamworth High with thought and commitment, a big pat on the back to you, too.
Out of just over 2500 votes cast, as my fellow scrutineer Di Nicholls and myself observed, a small amount of informal votes were cast and most of those were just simple mistakes, not deliberate.
It shows that our democracy is in a good place.
