The game looked headed towards a draw at 2-all with around five minutes to go but Adam McMahon struck from a corner to give Tudors the lead.
It was their third goal from a corner, their conversion from penalties proving the difference in the end.
“Our finishing from short corners was definitely a key,” Lobsey said.
From his recollection they had five, from which they scored off three.
It was a tough game, he said, and not surprisingly given it was first game of the season a bit of a scrappy affair.
They still haven’t had a full team to training and have had to shuffle things around a bit after a few off-season losses.
They’ve lost James Psarakis, Reid Gould and Brett Lobsey.
Sam Holt is also away overseas at the moment.
“It’s a bit of an experimental stage we’re going to go through in the early phase as we try and work out our structure,” Lobsey said.
Personnel aside, they needed to change things a bit.
“We’re trying not to go bull at a gate,” he said.
“We’re trying to build it up.”
One of their objectives on Sunday was to stay goalless, which they didn’t quite manage to achieve.
“Souths were strong and kept attacking us,” he said.
They have offsetting the losses got a couple of stalwarts back in Troy Gross and Matt Newell.
Complementing that is a couple of new faces.
Andrew Millman was one of those and played quite well in the halves, Lobsey said.
