They play Kiwis in the second first grade fixture with Tudors and South United matching up from noon.
The premiers will carry high expectations into the season, with good reason.
They haven’t really lost anyone and if anything are probably slightly stronger with the return of a couple of their premiership winners.
“Ryan Martin and Ryan Saban are both back,” coach Andrew Farmilo said.
“That’ll help us out.”
He hadn’t settled on where Martin will figure yet – whether in defence or up front – but the prospect of he and Isaac Farmilo up front is a mouth-watering one.
Martin’s availability tomorrow will depend on how Kootingal fare in the Wests Knockout.
The final for that is on Sunday and would clash.
Farmilo isn’t really sure what to expect from Kiwis.
He’s heard some rumours they’ve lost a couple but that was just hearsay.
The men’s competition will this year see the introduction of a mid-season Super 9s competition.
The concept is the brainchild of men’s competition convenor Ian Woodley and will run over three weekends in July instead of the regular competition.
It will be run under a draft system rather than be club based and involve players from all three grades.
The women’s action tomorrow will see the two victorious sides from the first round matching up in Services and Olympians.
Services had a good 6-1 win over Tudor Wests while the defending premiers edged out Flames 2-1 in what was a pleasing start from Farmilo’s perspective.
“I was really happy with them,” he said.
“Except our execution wasn’t great. We missed a lot of opportunities in the second half.”
They are a bit of a different-looking side this year. They’ve lost skipper Jemima Bartlett, Tegan Resch and Georgia Cooper.
They’ll be down a few more
tomorrow.
“We’ve got a few out this weekend,” Farmilo said, adding that it wasn’t an ideal time to be playing Services.
Flames will clash with Waratahs in the other game.
