For the second time this year, Oxley Vale Public School has fallen victim to offenders, who smashed their way into school classrooms on Thursday night.
iPads were stolen from the school’s computer room and the thieves damaged doors, internal walls, computers, a communications box as well as musical equipment.
The damage bill alone has been estimated at more than $7000.
“We would condemn the senseless damage at the school and the stealing of school property that is used to educate children,” Oxley Inspector Kylie Endemi told The Leader.
“We will continue to investigate the matter and look to identifying the offenders and place them before the courts.”
The mess was discovered at 6am yesterday when staff arrived for the school day.
A search of the school grounds also revealed the thieves had broken into the canteen and made food, before also making off with drinks.
Police were immediately notified of the break-in and established a crime scene.
Forensic police scoured the area yesterday morning as they compiled the evidence to try to find who is responsible.
Inspector Endemi confirmed police had canvassed the nearby area in search of any witnesses who might have spotted any suspicious activity.
“We would plead for anyone with information to contact Tamworth police or Crime Stoppers,” she said.
Vandals also damaged buildings and rummaged through classrooms on February 26.
Offenders also struck in April last year, and left several thousands of dollars' worth of damage to classrooms by spraypainting walls and damaging smartboards .
