He has nine horses in various stages of showjumping preparation at his family’s Duri Road property.
Six of them he “jumped” at the recent Tamworth Indoor Championship in Tamworth’s Australian Equine and Livestock Event Centre, two of whom competed in the main Grand Prix.
“Jaybee Caribus is a 13-year-old warmblood,” Hetherington said.
“He finished fourth and PP Masterclass Headline is a 12-year-old thoroughbred gelding. He finished seventh.”
They were encouraging efforts and continued their improvement.
“Both of them are going to the Sydney Royal. Both have been jumping well and are improving towards one of the main events of the year with $60,000 in prize money.
“They have been placed in World Cup competitions.”
Having them ready for the first ever World Cup qualifier in Tamworth is going to be an exciting development for Hetherington.
He’s also excited his sport can be showcased at this highest level to the general public in his home town AELEC.
