A choice between four more years of investment for our region, or a return to the past for Tamworth.
I was humbled in 2011 when the people of this electorate elected me as their local member.
I had a big to-do list.
I said I’d secure the funding for the Tamworth hospital, the Barraba pipeline, the Manilla Rd upgrade – I’ve ticked off on all those important commitments.
We now have more police on the ground, including a police dog unit.
I’ve secured more financial support for drought-affected farmers – and we’re getting the balance right between agriculture and mining.
In the current NSW budget, there is $250 million being poured into the Tamworth electorate.
The last budget of the previous member? $50 million.
This investment is making a real difference.
There is construction under way, people are working, our roads are getting fixed, and we have new and improved schools.
Before 2011, there was 16 years of neglect with a Sydney-focused Labor government and an independent member who was unable to get traction. The turnaround has not been by accident, it is because I have been a strong voice for the Tamworth region within a Nationals government.
When I call a minister, they pick up the phone.
If I ask Premier Mike Baird to come to Tamworth – he comes.
The job is not done – we can’t afford to go backwards.
If re-elected, I’ll deliver the freight rail hub in Tamworth, continue upgrading our roads, continue investing in our schools and push to create more jobs.
We will keep our record police numbers, while bringing in more nurses and specialists to the new Tamworth hospital.
And I will keep Essential Energy 100 per cent in public hands – while getting our fair share of the $6 billion that my party, The Nationals, have committed to for regional NSW.
This Saturday I need your vote to keep this region working.
