The project represented an unprecedented investment by both state and federal governments in delivering the final business case by March 2011.
All this achieved by the efforts of the independent state member for Tamworth, Peter Draper, and the independent federal member, Tony Windsor.
The successful funding application from the federal health and hospital fund in late 2010 was the result of this hard work by Peter Draper and the hospital planners and administrators who had done the preparatory work.
The National Party’s state member for Tamworth was not elected until 2011.
He and his party did not contribute to this process. An inconvenient truth.
So, how the National Party and its elected representative can now claim ownership of this process defies any logical explanation and is a misrepresentation of the facts.
