Fill the mine holes with the landfill

MUCH has been said and written by candidates for the forthcoming Armidale Dumaresq Council election.

The simple cheap cost solution (to the landfill problem)is to rail the scoops collected by the contractors and at council tips, placing them on railcars and transporting them to large available mine holes in the Muswellbrook area which are close to the main line.

This is not a new idea, as a large amount of the Sydney waste is daily moved by Pacific National to near Goulburn, and onto the Canberra line where it is shunted onto a

siding. Then deposited into a huge hole in the ground, being a disused mine shaft.

We could do the same for all the councils in New England and what a saving to them, and help the regeneration of the spoilt farming land in the Hunter Valley.
