The September 8 show will include Jack Thompson, multi-Gold Logie winner Lisa McCune, Kernaghan and Redgum’s John Schumann.
They head the stellar cast that will take audiences on a musical and theatrical journey based on the true and personal stories of those serving abroad and their loved ones at home.
It will pay tribute to all those who have served from World War I through to contemporary conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Kernaghan said it was a labour of love working on the album, Spirit of the Anzacs, which inspired the arena show.
“It’s given me a deeper appreciation of what it means to be an Australian,” he said.
“There have been so many times when I’ve got choked up and tearing up even while working on this – it’s just the sheer gravity of these songs.
“It’s those personal stories that just speak to my heart the loudest, and through these songs their
voices continue to be heard – hopefully for generations.”
The show will include big screens and a range of entertainment to set the scene.
“The show will put people right in the thick of the action,” Kernaghan said.
“It will be a high-tech production and I hope it will be an unforgettable experience for the audience.”
Each powerful and inspiring story in this unique and emotional arena production is brought to
life through stirring songs, narrated tales and powerful screen images.
These are the true stories of real people who, through their words, are also representing thousands of others who were there with them sharing the same experiences and feeling the same emotions.
The tour was inspired by the songs from Kernaghan’s new album of the same name.
The 16-song recording also includes special guest artists performing songs written by Kernaghan, Colin Buchanan and producer Garth Porter.
The national tour starts in Newcastle on 21 August, before travelling to Brisbane, Wollongong, Sydney, Tamworth, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.
