Politicians' assets would be seized if they could not explain how they acquired them honestly, under a radical and far-reaching anti-corruption election platform unveiled by the Greens.

"Cleaning up politics is imperative if we are to restore integrity to the political process," said Jamie Parker, the Greens' MP for Balmain said, speaking ahead of the party's official state launch on Sunday.

Politicians would be subject to asset-seizure laws for the duration of their time in parliament and a period of two years afterwards.

The party would create new legislation to explicitly outlaw bribery, misconduct and corruption when in public office. The party says these offences have been left to common law and countries such as the UK have successfully criminalised them.

MPs and bureaucrats found guilty would face maximum penalties of up to five years.

"Existing laws are complex and unworkable and cause corruption to often go unpunished in NSW," Mr Parker said. "We must start with clear and unambiguous laws that send corrupt politicians to jail for a very long time."

The party would also ban all donations to political parties from "for-profit" organisations – a standard the Greens imposes on itself - and require complete records of all meetings between politicians and lobbyists be made public.

The Baird government has  started publishing details of Ministerial diaries online. Contents of discussions are not published and the diaries are published quarterly.

The party would impose a five-year cooling off period before Ministers and bureaucrats can work for companies that operate in industries they once regulated.

The Greens have criticised a "revolving door" between the state government and mining and resources companies.

The ICAC recommended the NSW Crime Commission consider applying for an order to seize assets from Eddie Obeid, the disgraced Labor MP found to have been seeking to profit from a corrupt coal deal.

Ten members of the Baird government have stood aside from the party following revelations at a corruption inquiry.

The Premier has promised changes to NSW donation law including realtime disclosure of election donations for six months before an election.
