In the lead-up to Calrossy’s inaugural Cracker Night this month, the school’s industrial technology students have been making chopping boards to be sold at the event.
The boards are made out of a range of timbers, including Sydney blue gum, New Guinea rosewood, Tasmanian blackwood and merbau.
The timber has been randomly glued together to create an eclectic look with different colours and sizes.
The students then cut them with a bandsaw, sand them to a fine finish and round the edges using a router.
Calrossy industrial technology teacher Ian Scott said they were “very excited” to be selling the final product.
The Cracker Night, to be held on March 21, will raise money for the school and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.
