That was the startling admission from Group 4 officials yesterday as they attempted to provide the Panthers with support to prop up a club complete with players, coaches and sponsors but sparse in administrators.
Group 4 secretary-treasurer Peter Blom yesterday made an impassioned plea to anyone willing to step in at Wee Waa and keep the Panthers afloat as a new Group 4 season quickly approaches.
The Panthers have already aborted a previous annual general meeting and club president Ken Anderson will try to hold another AGM tomorrow night, Blom said.
“The Wee Waa Rugby League Football Club is desperately short of administrators for the 2015 season,” he said.
“An attempt to hold one annual general meeting this year resulted in two people turning up.
“It takes a lot of people to run a sporting club of any sort and that includes rugby league.
“For the past few seasons Wee Waa have survived through the dedicated hard work of a few loyal Wee Waa Panther workers.
“But this year, with the poor turnout for the AGM the few volunteers left are wondering if enough is enough.
“Sponsors are in place, coaches and players are ready to go but the only thing missing is people to run the club and do the administrative tasks,” Blom said.
“President Kenny Anderson and a couple of other Panther faithful are raring to go but they cannot do it alone.
“They need some more volunteers to come on board and lend a hand. The more people the lighter the workload for everyone involved.”
Blom said the Wee Waa Panthers have a long and proud history in Group 4 Rugby League.
“It is hard to imagine a Group 4 competition without them,” he said.
“A club that has produced players of the calibre of Jamie Lyon cannot be allowed to fall into oblivion because of the lack of a committee.
“In one last attempt to keep the club going in 2015, Kenny Anderson has called another AGM for this Thursday night at the Wee Waa Bowling Club.
“If he does not get the required response, that could spell the end of the Wee Waa Panthers.
“Wee Waa people have always been passionate supporters of the Panthers, always attracting great vocal crowds to their games no matter if they are having a good or bad season.
“I urge all the Wee Waa Panther supporters to attend the AGM at the Bowling Club on Thursday at 7.30pm to keep this great club playing rugby league.
“ If you can’t make the meeting but want to help, contact Kenny Anderson and let him know.”
