As I write this, I’m feeling both enraged and saddened at the same time.
What is happening to our lovely city, when homes are being invaded, people minding their own business are being bashed, and yet again, more vehicles are being stolen and burnt?
Time and time again we are hearing of these terrible things, and to regularly see burnt-out cars in public places makes me boil with anger and frustration.
Heaven help me if I ever break down on the side of the road and can’t get my car home. I’m pretty confident in saying that when I return to my vehicle a day or so later, there won’t be anything left but a burnt-out shell.
Ordinary people work hard for the things they have, and to just have these things taken and treated so violently like they are nothing, is nothing short of barbarianism (definition: a person in a savage, primitive state; uncivilized person; a person without culture, refinement or education).
What can be done about this?
My first thought would be that we definitely need a second police station in South Tamworth.
The police in our city do a marvellous job, however, we need to have them spread further, particularly at night.
And what about re-igniting Neighbourhood Watch?
We need to be looking out for each other and our properties, and caring for each other.
Get to know your neighbours, let them know if you’re going to be away for a period.
Report vehicles that are being driven erratically at all hours of the night – chances are high that the vehicle doesn’t even belong to the person driving it!
We need to try and stop these terrible things from occurring, otherwise we’re no better than these Barbarians by just accepting that this sort of s**t happens!
Let’s all stand up, be brave, and fight back!
