The scent inspired her award-winning signature coffee – aptly named “Childhood Nostalgia” – an espresso with honey and dissolved wattleseed, stirred together with a cinnamon stick.
Currently working at McDonald’s cafes in Tamworth South and West, her creation saw her take out the top gong in the NSW McCafe Barista Championships, the first time a Tamworthian has won the honour.
The coffee is a touching tribute to her father, who passed away almost seven years ago.
“I wanted my signature coffee to not just taste great, but reflect something about me,” Miss Greenham said.
Before moving to Tamworth just over a year ago, Miss Greenham worked in coffee shops in Queensland, Victoria and Tasmania, from high-end cafes to local bakeries in country towns.
She said customers were eager to try her signature cup of coffee and there would be a tasting day for them in the near future, with hopes the flavour would be distributed to McCafes across Australia.
She will be one of three McCafe baristas vying for a win at the 2015 Da Vinci Coffee Chain Championships at the Melbourne International Coffee Expo from March 13-15.
