Burrage is hoping that a victory will gain him a World Muay Thai Council welterweight ranking.
“I am chasing that ranking,” the Tamworth fighter said.
“If I get it, it could mean that I will bring an international fight to Tamworth later in the year.”
The fighter has a middleweight ranking but fighting at the 72kg mark is too heavy for him.
“The guys slim down for the weigh-in and by the time you get in the ring the next day they are huge.”
He is much more comfortable at the 66kg mark, where he can slim down himself for the weigh-in and then at least match his opponent for size.
At some stage he will have to fight at middleweight as he still holds the belt and, after two years at the top, there has still been no challenger.
“I will just hold it until someone else wants it,” Burridge said.
“They will have to take it off me in the ring though.”
Sam Barnett is also off to Thailand with the crew.
After winning the NSW Central West title in Blainey late last year, she is keen to test herself out in the home of the discipline.
“I have been there on holidays before but this will be a bit different,” Barnett said.
The two will train at the Lamia Training camp on Koh Samui before and after the fight night, with Burridge hoping to have one more fight before he leaves.
“I haven’t organised a second fight yet but if I win it shouldn’t be a problem,” Burrage said.
“There are a few Thais who I have beaten and who have beaten me so we will negotiate something.”
Barnett also hasn’t organised a fight as yet but doesn’t expect any issues in getting one.
With the help of sponsors from the Family and Albert Hotels as well as Tamworth’s Animal Home Care, the pair will leave tomorrow for the five-week tour.
