The Manilla XC Camp last week attracted a record 135 pilots across the eight days of competition, with more than half of the entrants setting personal best (PBs) distances.
Organiser Godfrey Wenness said it was the first time in the event’s 10-year history that the 300km barrier had been passed.
“This included a new Mt Borah site record of 363km,” he said.
“All pilots in the top 10 flew personal bests and many others achieved multiple PBs .
“Most days saw pilots flying from Mt Borah between 200km to 300km as far north as Yetman, Moree and Goondiwindi and west to beyond Walgett, Collarenebri and Lightning Ridge.”
Che Golus from Blackheath in the Blue Mountains took out the overall prize with a combined distance of 951km.
Claus Vischer, of Germany, came second with 920km and Brisbane’s Ivan Anissimov finished third with 825km.
