The FFA cup will provide a new level of competition for the TAS Firsts, who were last year’s undefeated Armidale District Football Association First Grade premiers.
10 teams will play in the Northern Inland division, all except TAS having played as part of the Northern NSW Football Premier League competition.
TAS will be up against Tamworth FC sometime in May, with the winner then playing the winner of East Armidale FC versus Oxley Vale FC.
“It’s important for their development to be able to play at that level,” football coordinator Luke Polson said.
TAS vice-captain Michael Klepzig agrees.
“It will give us the chance to play some big teams – it’s a real step up,” he said.
“It will require more training and focus and getting the team to bond early will be crucial. But all the boys are very keen.”
