TAMWORTH hosted more than 600 little runners, jumpers and throwers on the weekend at the regional Little Athletics Carnival.

A record number of Tamworth club members competed this year – 54 – and there were 1500 entries overall.
The Leader was told a new PA system had to be bought for the event, because the frequency previously used had reportedly been sold off by the telecommunications company.
The two-day carnival was held at the Tamworth Athletics Complex, with the New England region pitted against the Mid-North Coast and the Far North Coast regions.
The winners from the weekend will then head to the state carnival next month at the Homebush Athletics Centre.
