NSW State of Origin assistant coach Matt Parrish will be a special guest when the GNA kicks off its 2015 program at Jack Woolaston Oval, GNA manager Scott Bone said.
“Matty’s coming up and will start the day with a presentation to all the players and coaches,” Bone said.
“It’s based on the NSW Blues and what they do to achieve.
“It’s also about the pathways for young players who aspire to play for NSW in the State Of Origin.
“After that, Matty will take a look at what happens in our sessions and have a chat to all our coaches as well.
“It’s great for both our GNA players and coaches.”
Parrish is also the High Performance Manager for both the NSWRL and Country Rugby League and part of an overall plan from the NSWRL football manager, Barry Mather, to include all the state.
Tomorrow’s session is also vital for the players as they prepare for two big matches later in February.
“This is the second last session before we go to Cessnock and play the Newcastle Knights teams,” Bone said of the two GNA squads.
“We are getting down to the nitty-gritty.
“After the Newcastle Knights game we then play the two other coastal academies at Coffs Harbour.
“We’ll also do some testing over there as well.”
Unfortunately for one young player – Zach Taylor – his GNA season is over.
“He injured his knee in our last session before Christmas and is to have an operation,” Bone said.
“Other then that our two squads are fit and ready for a big run-in to those two games in Cessnock and Coffs Harbour.”
