The club will host its annual carnival tomorrow with a record 1351 entries.
“The carnival has grown every year and is now one of the largest one-day carnivals in North West NSW,” club co-coach Greg Poetschka said.
“Every year just keeps getting bigger.”
This year’s carnival will see entries jump over 100 on last year’s numbers.
Over 200 swimmers will take to the water representing 15 different clubs from across the New England, North West and North Coast.
The host club will itself have 47 swimmers competing, ranging in age from 5-18yrs.
The carnival will follow on from today’s Werris Creek Carnival and will be one of the final chances for swimmers to qualify for the NSW Country
Championships.
Poetschka said one of the highlights of the Kootingal carnival would be the six Dash for Cash races for the fastest male and female swimmers in 10&U, 11-13yrs and 14yrs and over.
The Kooty club boasts over 100 members.
Many of those, Poetschka said, had been attending the various North West carnivals to endeavour to improve their overall swimming and racing ability, but to also achieve higher goals such as Country and State qualifying times.
The action gets underway tomorrow at 8.30am.
