The vets will be back in the McCarthy nets from 2pm again this Sunday too as they prepare for a deferred game against Armidale.
That Armidale match has been moved to Wednesday, February 25, Tamworth Vets secretary David Head said.
“The reason? Armidale is staging a PSSA Carnival from February 16-19,” Head said.
“The Tamworth vet selectors will also have final details on the upcoming Mid North Coast match at the nets on Sunday.”
Their next regional match is against Mid North Coast at Wauchope on February 15.
“The team will be finalised this week,” Head said.
“We also have our “internal” match under lights at No 1 Oval on Sunday, February 8 too. It starts 4.30pm.
“We’ve got 11 players who have indicated their availability so far – we need another 11, so come and experience the magic of playing cricket under lights.”
He said the NSW Vets were looking ahead to the Over 70s and were in early discussions to get some Regional Over 70s matches going.
“I had a chat with Doug Crowell and we both support the idea, and the basic philosophy that it is to give games (and plenty of match participation) to those oldies who are being squeezed out by the “kids”.
“If you are in the age bracket referred to and have an opinion, let Kev Pike know.”
