Scott, 18, grew up in Tamworth competing in the Little A’s and has many regional championship titles as well as a few State titles to show for those endeavours.
However the talented teenager is off to Sydney to study a double degree in Science and Vision Science at the University of NSW for the next five years.
Last weekend Scott excelled at the NSW Country Athletics Championships at Glendale in Newcastle, winning five gold medals and one silver.
She won the Open high jump (165cms), Open triple jump (11.29), 18-19 years high jump, long jump (5.26m) and triple jump (10.99m).
Her silver medal was in the Open long jump at the end of a massive program.
Scott is currently in Sydney in training for this weekend’s Hunter Track Classic in high jump.
Other competitors are her good friend Patterson and former world junior silver medallist Amy Pekovic.
High jump is Scott’s preferred event.
Last year she was sixth in the Australian junior championships in her age group.
She has also ventured into triple jump more recently.
“It’s new to her,” her father Ian Scott said yesterday.
“She’s only been doing it the last few months and going quite well in it.
“She was just 12cm shy of a national qualifier last weekend and with a bit of luck might do that at the NSW titles on February 6/7.”
Meanwhile, Tamworth Little Athletics Club will host more than 600 families at this weekend’s huge Regional Little Athletics Championships.
Athletes aged from 8-17 will compete with more than 2500 entries in the 328 track and 92 field events over the two days.
