PRE-POLLING in the Tamworth local government area is proving popular.
Yesterday marked the fourth day of pre-polling in the Tamworth area.
Tamworth returning office manager Angell Harris said more than 300 people were choosing to pre-poll each day – about 100 more than anticipated.
Mrs Harris said the bulk of people choosing to pre-poll were going away on the official polling day – Saturday, September 8.
“Initially we expected there would be about 200 people to pre-poll each day, but there have been, on average, about 300,” Mrs Harris said.
It was estimated no less than 1200 people from the Tamworth Regional Council area had placed their votes by yesterday afternoon.
Mrs Harris said it was anticipated pre-polling would continue to increase as election day moved closer.
