Before writing in defence of Tamworth Regional Council, Brian, you need to know what you are talking about.
* It was never stated that the businesses survived on January figures alone.
* There are two very adequate ring roads, as well as Brisbane St.
* The business owners’ concerns have been raised to address the changes to the format of previous years, i.e., three blocks closed for eight to nine days, with stalls, entertainment and ambience.
The retailers feel they have had almost a restraint of trade thrust upon them by exclusion from the festivities.
To insinuate we need to “get a new business plan or get out”, that we are a “cash economy” is just misinformed, plain stupid and highly offensive to retailers who contribute enormously to the economy of Tamworth.
