After a bush breakfast at the Ray Walsh House forecourt, a civic ceremony will see six of the community’s most cherished residents vie for Citizen of the Year.
The nominees contending for this year’s top honour are gymnastics coach Vanessa Bourne, youth mental health advocate Helen Carter, Tamworth Business Chamber president Tim Coates, along with nursing volunteer Margaret O’Connor, multicultural advocate Eddie Whitham and community mentor Bill Warburton.
For local children, there will be hours of aquatic fun to be had at the Tamworth South War Memorial Pool.
From family fun in Manilla to flinging thongs and boiling billies in Bendemeer, there is a bunch of activities across the region for locals to enjoy.

Barraba
* 8am - 11.30am: Community breakfast and official ceremony including announcement of the Barraba Australia Day Awards –Barraba War Memorial RSL Hall
Bendemeer
* 8.30am: Breakfast, flag-raising ceremony, billy-boiling competition, entertainment, thong-throwing and much more – Bendemeer Bowling Club
Manilla
* 11.30am - 1.30pm: Community morning tea, official ceremony including announcement of the Manilla Australia Day Awards, family fun day, sports events and entertainment – Manilla Memorial Pool, Arthur St
Nundle
* 8.30am - 10.30am: Barbecue breakfast, welcome and official ceremony, flag-raising, trivia competition and children’s activities – Nundle Public School, Jenkins St
Tamworth
* 7.30am: Church Service conducted by Pastor Brian Bernays, Christian City Church – (Ray Walsh House foyer)
* 8.30am: Bush breakfast (forecourt)
