NSW METROPOLITAN won the Australian Under 19 Cricket Championships but Central North Zone’s Riley Ayre and James Psarakis have shared in a great result for the combined NSW Country/ACT side.

The two Central North teenagers played major roles in the debutante side, finishing second to their big brothers.
While the NSW Metro side had a thrilling final-day win over Victoria to win the tournament, NSW Country/ACT defeated Tasmania outright to finish second.
This win means that NSW Metro has completed a clean sweep of the Youth National Championships following previous victories in the U18 and U15 Female competitions, and the U17 Male competition.
NSW Country/ACT took a 110-run lead into the second innings after bowling Tasmania out for 137 in reply to their 247.
Spinners Ayre (3-44) and Jonte Pattison (3-40) were the key bowlers, sending down 50 overs between them.
They then hit 4-80 declared in their second innings from 9.5 overs to leave Tasmania to chase 191 runs to win.
Tasmania tried its best to chase the target but was bowled out for 132 in 27 overs.
Ayre again excelled, with 4-50 from 9.4 overs, while Alec Melville finished with 5-24 from six overs.
He and Henry Hunt were named in the team of of the tournament along with NSW Metro’s Daniel Fallins and Luke Bartier.
Bartier was also named player of the tournament.
In Dubbo the inaugural State Challenge finished on a good note for the Northern Razorbacks, a combined Central North and North Coastal Zone’s Under 13 and 14 sides.
The Northern Razorbacks Under 13s finished their State Challenge with a big win over West City Scorpions, scoring 8-136 and then knocking over the city team for just 48.
Hayden Ensbey finished with 5-5 while Brock Larance scored 47 and then grabbed 1-5 as well.
The Northern Razorback Under 14s weren’t as fortunate, making 6-178 but being run down by the South City Sharks, who posted 6-181 with two overs to spare.
Captain Will Fort (48) topscored for the Razorbacks while Cameron Palmer made 36.
Palmer was later named in the Under 14 merit squad as well as being named Player of the Tournament.
