I was bemused to read Peter Draper’s comments in yesterday’s Northern Daily Leader (“Sport centre tops funding list”, page 9, Thursday January 22).

In 2011 the electorate decided it wasn’t good enough having an independent MP who headed down to Macquarie St only to bang on closed doors.
Peter is still practising the same old negative politics, four years after the people of Tamworth voted him out of office.
Meanwhile, I have worked from within government to win real outcomes for our area.
How about the fact I have actually delivered – rather than just promised – $100 million of the $220 million regeneration of Tamworth hospital?
What about securing funding to increase the water capacity of Chaffey Dam from 62,000 megalitres to 100,000 megalitres?
Or how about securing 25 more police, a drug dog and a new Police Dog Unit to help get the crime rate down in Tamworth?
Peter is a clever politician, but this is the difference between rhetoric and results – and I’ll put my record of results against his any day of the week.
