Thirty ambassadors from China, Taiwan, America, Canada, New Zealand, England
and Wales – along with Australians from Albany, the Sunshine Coast and Sydney – arrived in Tamworth on the weekend as part of a cultural exchange.
The international guests will sample all Tamworth has to offer during its flurry of cultural activity, and they will also travel to Nundle and Uralla to soak up the gold-mining and bushranger history.
The visitors will end their visit when they sit atop a float with artist Tanya Self during the country music cavalcade.
Friendship Force international organiser Annette Watson said the group had sparked “a lot of interest” from locals and they were overwhelmed by Tamworth’s generosity and hospitality.
“Every one has been fabulous and really welcoming,” Ms Watson said.
She said country music buskers had come especially to entertain them.
“They were phenomenal – everyone was just blown away.”
