Johnson, who is known as the bass guitarist for Amber Lawrence and Troy Cassar-Daley and produces many of Australia’s country recordings, said the day would bring together a range of artists, with plenty of special surprise guests. Artists performing at the showcase include the Viper Creek Band, Seleen McAlister, NeillyRich and Missy Lancaster, with Mike Carr compering and special guest Buddy Goode making an appearance.
“I want to support new artists, because they’re the future of country music,” Johnson said.
“It’s really important for them to get in front of a new audience and gain new fans. And they’ll all have product for sale at the show.”
He rain a kickstart competition and the winners, Up And Coming, will do a set as part of their prize.
The Central Coast producer said this was something he had been wanting to do at previous festivals and hoped it would now become an annual event. Other than the showcase, he will play at 20 gigs as part of various artists’ bands and has produced at least 10 artists’ EPs, albums and singles in the past year.
